Trashing a Dress | Sumner and Orting Wedding Photographer

If you've followed me for a while, you've heard and probably seen a few examples of a Trash The Dress photo session.  But if you're a new fan, this may be a completely new concept so I thought I'd take a few minutes this morning to explain what we are doing.

Trash the Dress is a very fun portrait session (although it's more like an adventure session!) for a couple that is already married or is about to be married.

We usually start out not with water and ocean waves, but somewhere more simple but interesting and colorful.  For the next few we were in Seattle and had found this great red loading dock.  It is so bright it sets off the simplicity of the black and white perfectly!

I like to have fun and get silly as well as incorporate some glamour when we can.

For this young lady, she wanted a view of her hometown in a park where she had played as a little girl.  Now grown and having moved away many years ago, revisiting this location was not just about the photo opportunities but it was a moment for her.

Slowly, we get dirtier and dirtier.  This location had a very fine dust-like dirt.  It wasn't anything to be concerned about in the long run, since we are not trying to stay clean!

After we've had enough of the unusual and perhaps slightly dirty locations, we go for some water.  This is my favorite part!  The dress gets "clean" and we get amazing images.  This one below captured the intensity of the waves as we tried to decide how deep was safe.

Safety is a huge concern for me.  I want to photograph the fun part of a wedding dress floating, but I never want my friends and clients to be in danger.  For almost every session that had us in the water, we never went beyond knee deep.

None of these dresses were ruined, each one was easily cleaned and put away as each lady found fit.

All of these images are from 2009 and I am so excited to begin again tomorrow morning!
Mr. & Mrs. S have been married 10 years.  There is such a different kind of passion among couples who reach milestones like this and I can't wait to see it!

The V Family | South Hill Family Portraits

We have been very lucky with a stretch of great weather here in Puyallup and my friends have taken advantage of it!  This is my second time working with this particular location and I love it just as much!  Such easy access for those coming from Graham as well as South Hill.

Are you ready for some cuteness??  I hope so because The V Family has it!
The youngest Mr. G is two and in love with sticks and rocks.  Because really, all two year old boys are!

Boy, having an older brother sure comes in handy... keeping little brother still for a second!

And introducing the newest addition...  Little Miss T!  All gorgeousness at just 2 months old!

all because two people fell in love...

The boys!

The adventure of gathering everyone together!

Thanks for visiting with The V Family!  I hope you enjoyed their cuteness as much as I did!

The W Family | Puyallup Family Portraits

Whenever I have the chance, I like to look for out of the way locations to take pictures.  There are some really great places tucked away in Graham and the South Hill area of Puyallup.
I recently discovered a new location and was thrilled that Mrs. W lived nearby and was willing to try it also!  Just off of a well-known street is a little trail.  On this occasion it was the perfect place to escape from the sun's direct light and it has such lush greenery!

The W family has two adorable kiddos.  And they sure loved hamming it up with their dad!

Little Miss wanted very much to show off her lovely new clothes and she did a wonderful job sitting prettily too!

Mr M has a very infectious laugh, so I did all I could to hear it as much as possible.

And of course, as all boys do... he loves to run!

What a great evening with this fun family!
I hope you enjoyed their pictures too!

The Return of the F Family | Bonney Lake Family Portraits

Welcome to a little visit with the F Family!  A huge thanks to Abundant Life Photography for this amazing location.  Mrs. F also is a photographer so this felt a little like a photographer playdate!  Each of us was in awe of the lovely light, the perfect rustic barn, the beautiful grasses and trees....  Ahh, I'm still happy remembering it!

This is my fourth year photographing their growing family. Little Miss takes after her mother with easy and ready smiles. Young Mr. D has grown into such a young man with his inquisitive and sensitive nature.  We gave him the responsibility of choosing a few favorite spots to take pictures.  I love that THIS is one of them!

At the end of the evening Mr. D was quite happy to get closer to the "wild" life on the farm.

Little Miss was so excited about the entire prospect.  That is something I love about photographing kids!  For some personalities, this portrait thing is quite an adventure!  New clothes!  New boots!  New people to admire me!  New location!  Ooo! look! animals!

Wow, did I get lucky with the color of the chair matching their outfits???

I really couldn't help myself.  I think her smile pops so much in black and white!

Little Miss: Boots!  See my boots!
Mom: Yes, you have lovely boots!  Show off your boots even more!

We took a break to choose a new location (you can see Mr. D looking very carefully behind mom) and the girls used the opportunity to pick "flowers!"

While Mr. D was location scouting, we snapped a few of just Little Miss with Mom & Dad.

Location scouting is hard work!

But this is what he found...
I think he did a wonderful job!

Thanks for another great year Mr & Mrs F!
I had a great time exploring with you!

Vanessa and Skyler | Maple Valley Wedding

I've really enjoyed spending a lot more time this year second shooting and assisting with other local photographers.  In July I worked with MRB Photography and a beautiful Lake Wilderness wedding in Maple Valley.  I've seen green color scheme weddings before but Vanessa and Skyler definitely had a twist to it!  Envision it.....

Green

Black

White

Elegant, earthy, outdoorsy, clean colors, perfect for a summer evening at the Lodge at Lake Wilderness...

Mason Jars! Of course!!

The head table had a centerpiece with a beautiful etched hurricane holder...

Here's just a glimpse at the guest tables, planters with tiny scenes and live plants!
Just by walking around the room I got a feel for what this couple likes to do!

And the cake.  Wow what a piece of art!

Alright, alright, on to the portraits.
The very handsome groom Skyler with one of the younger groomsmen.

I didn't spend much time with the bride and bridesmaids but I did get to see a sentimental moment with the Father of the Bride.

Ahhh, the groomsmen.  Quite the characters, each and every one!

I think I hear the music starting!
The groom is unbelievably anxious, he hasn't seen his bride for several hours.

At the lakefront, they exchange their vows and pledge their lives together.

And finally it's time for the kiss!!

See?
More characters...

Even though we were short on time, we were able to get away for some bride and groom portraits.

Thank you for visiting!
